Retail and supermarket checkouts
We supply the largest manufacturer of supermarket checkouts in the UK and have worked together with them for over 30 years. This partnership has resulted in the supply of the contruction metalwork found underneath checkouts in most major supermarkets in the UK.
Evolving retail product development demands have required an exceptionally close working relationship between the customers designers and Redman Sheet Metal engineering staff to achieve the designs which are capable of being manufactured.
Invariably the intial product design will evolve once the end user has experience on site, and then RSM will support a customer rollout programme over a number of months.
There can be over 100 metal component parts in a checkout, which are manufactured individually using Laser and Punch prior to Bending.
These parts are then assembed by a range of Mig, Tig and spot welding with some minor sub assembly before then being Powder coated. They are then supplied to the customer in kit form. These assemblies can be up to 2.5 metres long and 50cm wide requiring careful handling and significant space. Although the customer is over 100 miles away, delivery is still achieved within the agreed timescales.
